I snagged this beautiful batch of handmade paper from a paper maker who mentioned the batch was "imperfect," as it had not come out as planned. Drops of white pulp, and specks of black ink failed to blend thoroughly.

But, these "imperfections" are the very reasons I fell in love with this paper. Life is messy, and broken, and things don't always go to plan. The white and dark blue drops resemble tear drops, perhaps of grief. Against the backdrop of stormy seas or tears, we have an Anchor for our souls-- the reason we can sing "It is well with my soul" in any circumstance.
